Paddleboard Guide
Imagine being able to spend the summer guiding guests on the river in Brevard!
The ideal candidate should be an experienced paddleboarder who also has a passion for educating guests about the French Broad River watershed.
Responsibilities and Duties
Guide small, private groups of guests down the French Broad River outside of Brevard.
Ensure customer safety while also keeping things informative, engaging, and fun.
Drive a shuttle van with attached trailer to collect/drop off gear and help customers with rental equipment.
Provide proper instruction on paddleboard technique, and be able to discuss directions and hazards for rentals and self-guided trips.
Deliver boards to private lake homes around Brevard and WNC.
Oversee a small amount of merchandise sales.
Qualifications
ACA or WPA SUP Instructor certification (preferred, but not required)
Be a self-starter and team player with a positive, “can do” attitude.
Be comfortable working in an outdoor environment with knowledge of rivers, proper river safety, and local ecology and wildlife.
Be available to work weekends, mornings, and long, fun-filled days.
Be easygoing, have a sense of humor, and thrive in a fast-paced customer service environment.
Knowledge of online reservation systems, or have a willingness to learn.
Ability to think outside of the box and be sales driven and oriented.
Have previous experience in hospitality and outdoor recreation.
Clean driving record and experience with backing a trailer (preferred)
Ability lift 50 lbs. overhead.
CPR/First Aid certified (preferred).
Compensation
Base + Commission + Tips. Inquire for more info, but it usually averages between $18-$25/hr (plus tips)
Free use of paddleboards and equipment (depending upon availability).
Opportunity to grow into other Wai Mauna locations across the country.
